Understand Every Good Thing

The other day during my quiet time I was reading the book of Philemon. Philemon is a short book, only one chapter long, that is a letter by Paul to a believer in Colosse named Philemon. Paul's letters are some of my favorite books of the Bible because they are so encouraging & practical.

As I was reading Philemon, verse 6 stuck out to me. It says,

"I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ." (NIV)

As I read this verse I thought about how true it is. Every time I step up and take the initative to share my faith, it's seems as though I grow in understanding more of the Gospel in which I'm sharing. When you share your faith with someone else, you begin to realize how richly you have been blessed because your eyes are opened to how miserable life must be without the promise of God's grace, love & joy in your life.

Often, as Christians we tend to let the Gospel get old. It becomes the "same old story" and we forget how powerful that "same old story" is in our lives. Each time I witness, I come away with a greater thankfulness for the freeing work of Christ in my life. I am no longer under the bondage of sin & have the privlege of walking each day in the joy of the Lord!

I would like to challenge you to jump out there and be active in your faith. You will not only fulfill God's comission for your life, but also you will continually be reminded of every good thing we have in Christ!
